Black Hat – White Hat

Question – About PPC Mostly

I had a reader ask me some PPC questions along with some general guidance questions – Wrote a book.  I don’t think her actual question is as important as the answer because it will apply to a lot of things:

Answer:
The one area I only “dabble” in is PPC – heck I have profitable campaigns I
don’t pay attention to enough to improve the income they make.  I HATE it -
I find PPC mind numbingly boring, and that’s just not good for me :)

So having said that – I can’t help you there.

I’m thinking though that if you want to go the PPC route that the
squidoo/wordpress mu system I talked about would give you the quality score
you need, and actually improve the income you make from each product.

That way you can actually test out the market a bit, then if you DO find a
profitable little niche, you can either use the MU site as your landing page
for PPC or have a real landing page designed just for that product.

I can attest that this system works – it’s a good plan – and we rarely
actually do the blogger and wordpress parts because we are busy.  I sell
bicycles, computers, heaters, etc… everyday this way.  Well I don’t – but
my CJ and Linkshare accounts get sales everyday.

It’s working well enough that I have a person setting up product pages every
day and we just do the promotion part after he is done.

If it’s profitable I’ll make a “BANS” site to go along with it, and even use
the foundation sites and black hat sites to drive more traffic and rankings
towards the same products.  By the time I’m finished with a niche I’m making
sales with I’ll have something like this:

WordPress Multi User Set up.  Related products each in it’s own subfolder.

These link up to the right MU pages:
Squidoo Lenses – Blogger Blogs – WordPress Blogs

These link up to both MU and even the squiddo lens and what not:
Foundation sites, BANS sites, database sites.

These link up to only the foundation/bans/database sites:
Scrapper blogs, rss driven sites, cycles, fake forums, fake blogs, etc…

EVERY site, lens, blog, forum post, etc..gets put through the automated
promotion ringer  — that means:  Bookmarking demon, quit tool, promotion
center, rss exploiter, squirt (if your a member at robstools), and linked to
from as many places in my network that makes sense – ie black hat to grey,
to white,……

Does that help?

What do you have going on now?  You might just need to tie your ‘parts’
together for a smarter plan of attack.

After xmas I’m going to be doing a daily “30 minute” video where I show you
what I’m working on, give you the code, etc…  I know I’ll be giving nss 2
members access but I might just make it open to the entire public in some
fashion as well.  There is so much ‘crap’ being peddled by experts keeping
smart folks down that I almost feel it’s my duty to wake a few more folks up :)

There is nothing groundbreaking or “secret” I’ll ever sell – it’s just work,
good sites, and a good plan.  The part most folks have a hard time with is
that I don’t tell them to do xyz, then zyx, etc…

The hardest part is YOU picking out an angle (or plan) of attack that your
confortable with and just going for it.  You can’t even stop working to see
if it’s working, you just keep going.

Eventually the money starts rolling in, and you can nit pick a bit – but
that’s the hardest part.  Going all out on something that you don’t know if
it will work – but not going all out is what WILL make it fail for sure.

That’s one of the reasons I like the MU plan I outlaid above – it lets me
test while still running ahead full force – if I have a dud it’s just a
couple pages and they still push around some link love – if it’s a winner it
can be expanded upon.

  1. Great post man, I’ll have to see if I can use this to lower the amount of money I lose testing niches for PPC.
